(Brookville, IN) – Plans are coming together, the bands are booked and the fryers are getting ready.
Main Street Brookville invites you to its annual Chicken Festival & Fry-Off at the historic Brookville Ballpark on Saturday, September 12 for a full day of music, chicken and flood relief.
The festival’s official hours are Noon to 8 p.m., but organizers encourage you to come early and stay late.
Shannon Amber kicks off the music at 11 a.m., followed throughout the day by Nick Winters, The Biscuit Lickers, Noah Pavey, Randy Peak of the Renegades and JD Chappell, who will close out the night.
Joel Alvarado, star of Mayberry Man, will serve as host and emcee, keeping the music moving and the crowd informed throughout the day.
And, of course, there will be chicken.
Guests can come early to watch local home fryers compete for $1,000, a trophy and bragging rights as Franklin County’s best home chicken fryer.
Celebrity judges will choose this year’s winner, and chicken dinners will be sold throughout the day.
Admission is free, and the event is designed for the entire family.
You’re encouraged to bring the kids, a lawn chairs and plan to spend the day.
Food and craft vendors will be on hand, along with family activities, while adults can enjoy what organizers are calling Brookville’s largest beer garden, which provides a full view of the stage.
Flood Relief at the Heart of the Day
But the most important part of the day remains flood relief.
Proceeds will benefit the Franklin County Community Foundation (FCCF) Disaster Relief Fund, helping address unmet needs of local flood survivors.
The FCCF donation QR code will be available throughout the ballpark, and organizers will also be passing the flood bucket for donations.
Community Support
None of this happens without community partners. Organizers say a number of sponsors and supporters have stepped up.
The chicken will be frying, the bands will play, and the flood bucket will make the rounds, according to Main Street Brookville.
