(Batesville, IN) – Gov. Mike Braun is talking up Indiana’s role in the U.S. defense industry.
Appearing on Tuesday’s edition of WRBI’s The Daily Pod, the governor touted the recent announcement of Med-Mizer’s expansion of operations in Batesville.
“It’s an interesting discussion because Ripley County, a rural county, this company was founded in 2003, and it’s been continuously organically growing jobs,” Braun said.
Med-Mizer will invest $9 million to increase production at its existing 40,000-square-foot facility on Commerce Drive and create up to 73 new jobs, which are expected to offer average wages 134 percent of the Ripley County average.
The expansion will enable the company to grow its production of innovative hospital beds and safe patient handling solutions, plus support Med-Mizer’s fulfillment of a recently awarded five-year, sole-source contract with the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.
“And it’s just a neat description of defense-related stuff in our state, that’s taken root some time ago but really blossoming across the state,” he added.
