Bohman’s walk-off single caps Batesville varsity baseball’s comeback win over Shelbyville

Batesville varsity baseball defeated Shelbyville  5-4 on Saturday thanks to a one-run walk-off single by Carter Bohman.

Shelbyville got on the board in the first inning when Aiden Smith hit a solo homer. The Golden Bears would add a run in the 3rd and 2 in the 4th to give them the 4-1 lead after four innings.

Batesville would storm back in the final 3 innings, scoring 1 in the 5th and 3 in the 7th to clinch the comeback victory.

Cade Kaiser earned the victory on the mound for Batesville. The righty went four innings, allowing zero runs on five hits, striking out four, and walking zero. Eli Loichinger started the game for the Bulldogs. The right-hander surrendered four runs on seven hits over three innings, striking out five.

McKayne Wickham started the game for Shelbyville. Wickham lasted three innings, allowing zero hits and one run while striking out two. James Maupin threw three and one-third innings in relief.

Batesville collected nine hits. Bohman, Jack Grunkemeyer, and Max Baumer each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs.

Shelbyville tallied 12 hits. Smith, Brock Kuhn, and Gavyn Fisher each managed multiple hits for the Golden Bears.
