BMS Volleyball Takes Two From South Dearborn

The Batesville Middle School 7th grade volleyball team came out fired up and defeated South Dearborn 25-16, 25-15.

Brielle Maple, Ella Peetz, and Harper Wagner all had nice passing to start the plays. Nya Moon and Reese Richey hustled at the setter position to set up the hitters. Elsie Koehne had two strong hits. Vera Flannery had three kills at the net. Adalyn Placke and Nya Moon each had two kills while Ella Peetz had one kill. From the service line Nya Moon had 13 points including four aces. Vera Flannery had six points from the service line. Zoey Mathews earned five points. Reese Richey, Adalyn Placke, and Ella Peetz all had three points for the Bulldogs.

The BMS 8th Grade Volleyball Team played well as a team to defeat South Dearborn 25-18, 25-18. Maci Smith paced the team from the service line, scoring nine points including four aces while hitting all 13 of her service attempts. Amelia Vierling scored five points while Miki Gutzwiller and Carly Blanton each chipped in four points including one ace. Rounding out the scoring were Breauna Broshears and Sarah Hunter with three points including an ace, Gabby Brown with two points including an ace, and Hailey Hundley with one service point.

The top attacker for the match was Lydia Niese who netted seven kills on some well-placed dinks and spikes. Breauna Broshears and Maci Smith added two kills each. Maliyah Morton was 7 for 8 in spike attempts to help seal the victory.

The teams will face Benjamin Rush Middle School at the Dog Pound on Monday.
