The 7th grade Batesville Middle School volleyball team played a good game to defeat Jac-Cen-Del 25-18, 13-25, and 15-6.
Sarah Hunter, Hailey Hundley, and Alexis Schiller all had good passing in the back row to create the opportunity for the front row to get some hits.
In the front row, Breauna Broshears had 3 kills. Miki Guzwiller, Maci Smith, and Riley Balser each had 1 kill.
The top server was Riley Balser with 12 points, including 5 aces. Kiersten Luers chipped in 7 points with 1 ace. Izzy Dierckman added 6 service points with 3 aces. Miki Gutzwiller had 4 points and Carly Blanton had 3 points.
The team improved to 3-2.
The BMS 8th Grade Volleyball Team defeated Jac-Cen-Del in two sets by scores of 25-8; and 25-11.
The front line was exceptional throughout the match due to accurate passing and set placement.
It was a solid, all-around victory for the Lady Bulldogs.
Top performers from the service line included Katie Wilhelm (15 for 16 with 12 points including 6 aces) and Molly Gesell (11 for 12 with 9 points including 4 aces). Maggie Peters made 2 good serves and earned her first service point this season.
The Bulldog attack was impressive, focused, and aggressive all night. Gesell knocked in 6 kills in the front line in 7 swings, while Maggie Jelinek earned 4 kills in 6 attempts. Madi Dierckman was 4 for 4 with 3 kills and Jolene Dirkhising earned 2 kills in her 2 attempts. Ellie Walke chipped in a kill to help the team.
Abby Miller, Jersey Trenkamp, and Isabel Meyer were all very consistent in serving reception.
The teams will return to the Dog Pound on Tuesday to play North Decatur.
