BMS Volleyball Sweeps East Central

Batesville Middle School volleyball took two from East Central on Monday.

It was the Bulldog 7th graders in two sets – 25-21, 25-9.

“The team played smart and aggressive by finding the open spots in EC’s defense. Chesney Placke, Kalli Craig, Maddie Dole, Cora Koehne, and Lila Wade played strong defense in the back row. Aubrey Kruthaupt and Ava Gunter continue to set up the offense with their setting. Vivian Duty, Bailey Wendelman, and Brenna McCleary played strong in the front row. Lucy Bailie had 3 kills. Emily Volz and Eve Flannery each had 2 kills. Lila Wade and Aubrey Kruthaupt chipped in 1 kill each. From the service line Emily Volz was perfect with 17 for 17 serving, earning 14 points. Aubrey Kruthaupt had 11 points. Lucy Bailie earned 3 points. Ava Gunter, Lila Wade & Bailey Wendelman added 2 points each,” said BMS 7th grade coach Angie Ehrman.

In the 8th grade match, BMS came out on top – 25-22, 25-18.

“The team showed resilience and determination in the win. Sydney Holtkamp was a perfect 12 for 12 serving, earning 9 points including an ace to lead the team. Lauren Ollier chipped in 6 points with 5 exciting aces in set 1 to swing momentum on our side. Offensively, 6 Lady Dogs earned kills at the net including Lauren Ollier with 4, Zoe Bolser, Aubree Roell, and Lilllian Hixson with 2 apiece, and finally Emma Campbell and Hannah Bruns each earning 1 kill. A huge shoutout to our student section for showing up for ‘Neon Night.’ Your support was loud and proud, helping us keep our winning streak alive.” said Bulldog 8th grade coach Shelly Prickel.

Both Batesville teams are now 8 and 1, and will travel to St. Louis for the Crosstown Shootout on Tuesday.
