The BMS cross country team traveled to Muscatatuck Park to participate in the Jennings County Invitational Thursday evening. The Lady Dogs cruised to victory with an impressive score of 22 points. They were led by eighth grader Ava Wade who was the meet champ. Elia Wade was the next runner to finish for Batesville in 3rd place, followed by Ana Shane in 5th place, Emmalynn Allgeier in 6th, Bailey Feldmann in 7th, Audrey Dieckmann in 9th, and Aubrey Weberding in 10th for the varsity team. Jennings County was the second-place team scoring 42 points.
Seventh grader Cael Luhman led the boys’ team, coming in 2nd place overall. Timothy Quillin was next for the Bulldogs in 3rd place, Wyatt Essick in 6th, Coleman West in 8th, Lucas Gadberry in 9th, Luke Raver in 11th, and Miles Lawrence in 15th. The boys also brought home the trophy with a team score of 28 points, edging out 2nd place Jennings County with 38 points.
In the JV race, Batesville had many ribbon winners placing in the top 15. They were as follows for the girls: Annabel Eckstein 1st, Charlotte Kendal 2nd, Alyssa Cummings 3rd, Myka Perry 4th, Sydney Holtkamp 5th, Kinley Lanham 6th, Reese Holtkamp 7th, Addie Cummings 10th, Paige Holcomb 11th, and London Tuttle 12th place. The boys JV ribbon winners were as follows: Duncan Fish 1st, Nathaniel Fuentes 2nd, Sam Patterson 3rd, Salvador Schutte 4th, Gavin Linville 5th, Alex Kaiser 6th, Nolan Wanstrath 7th, Grayson Parcell 8th, Ethan Lanham 10th, and Lane Moody 12th place.
