Bill Gene Hosmer, age 89 Osgood, passed away Saturday November 18, 2023 at Mercy West Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born on June 6, 1934 the son of the late Theodore and Dorothy (Gilland) Hosmer in Delaware, Indiana.
In 1956, he married the love of his life Helen Haggard in Delaware. The recently celebrated their 67 anniversary. Shortly after marriage, Bill was called to serve his country. He proudly served in United States Army, when his time in the service was complete he began his work career, which would include spending 35 years with Bohn Aluminum.
Bill was a founding member of the Delaware Fire Department and had attended Delaware Methodist Church for years. He was extremely particular to detail, always having a clean car and well-manicured yard. He enjoyed watching wrestling and doing woodwork. His family and friends were his pride and joy.
He will be dearly missed by wife Helen, sons Larry (Teresa) Hosmer and David Hosmer, brothers; Don, Harley (Sue), and Kenny (Jeweline), sister Barbara Peck, 2 granddaughters, and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James “Butch”, and sisters Shirley Jones, Jeanne Doan, Mary Thompson, and Betty May.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday November 22, 2023 from 12-2 pm., at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm. at Neal’s, with burial following at Grandview Cemetery in Madison. Memorials can be given to the Delaware Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
