Batesville junior varsity baseball knocked in eight runs in the third on its way to a 12-1 victory over Union County on Friday. The Bulldogs batters contributing to the big inning included Jaiden Kuria, Josh Borgman, Keegan Walke, Brayden Maple, and Alex Krekeler, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Batesville opened up scoring in the first inning when Krekeler singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.
The Bulldogs tallied eight runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Borgman and Walke, doubles by Kuria and Maple, and by Krekeler.
Ethan Lacey pitched Batesville to the victory. The right-hander allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out four. Luke Miller and Dane Dudley entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Batesville tallied 12 hits in the game. Krekeler, Dudley, and Walke all collected multiple hits for the team. Walke, Dudley, and Krekeler each managed two hits to lead the Bulldogs.
