Bicyclist Struck in Greensburg

(Greensburg, IN) – A male juvenile was injured when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Lincoln and Washington streets in Greensburg Wednesday afternoon.

Greensburg Police officers arrived at the scene around 2:23 p.m. and found the juvenile lying on the street next to a bicycle.

He was attended to until Decatur County EMS and Greensburg Fire Department personnel arrived.

The youth was stabilized at the scene before being taken directly to IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by ambulance.

A 21-year-old Greensburg woman identified herself at the scene as the driver of the vehicle.

A witness told police the vehicle was crossing Lincoln onto Washington, and that two juvenile males were riding bikes on the sidewalk along Lincoln Street approaching the crosswalk at Washington Street.

That witness says the first juvenile did not stop at the crosswalk, and he and his bike were hit.

The accident remains under investigation.
