BHS Girls Cross Country

Junior, Kaylynn Bedel and sophomore, Lexiyne Harris were one of the top 250 girls standing at the start line of the state meet Saturday at 2:30 pm at the Laverne Gibson XC Course in Terre Haute. They have been in big invitationals before, but this wasn’t just an invitational, it was the top girls in the state competing. The competitiveness of this race is huge. In fact, the first 60 girls to cross the line broke 19:00 for a 5K. Lexiyne ran her personal best of the year with a time of 19:45, which placed her 143rd overall and Kaylynn was 16 seconds behind her with a time of 20:01 (her 4th best time of the year), putting her at the 165th spot. This was their ultimate goal, to be standing on the state line on Oct. 28th, competing in the state finals. It wasn’t an easy road to get there, but through their hard work, dedication, and perseverance, they were there and are ready to come back even stronger next year. Congratulations Kaylynn and Lexiyne!
