Beverly “Bev” Huxsoll

Beverly “Bev” (Baker) Huxsoll, 85, a native of Aurora, Indiana passed away August 28, 2021.

She was born May 17, 1936, in Cincinnati, OH, daughter of the late Henry Baker and Leah (Smith) Baker of Aurora, Indiana. Her family owned and operated Baker’s Parkview Market on Conwell Street in Aurora for many years. Bev was a 1954 graduate of Aurora High School, where she was a member of the marching band and choir and where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, David. She was a 1958 graduate of Hanover College, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry and was a member of the Phi chapter of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. In 1959 she married David Huxsoll of Aurora. Bev and her family lived in a number of different places during David’s Army and academic career, primarily in Maryland and later in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. For five years in the mid-to late 1970’s she and her family lived overseas in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Bev worked as a laboratory medical technologist in a number of different hospitals, as a research assistant at the National Institutes of Health, and was also employed in the medical intelligence community. Bev enjoyed artistic hobbies and during her time in Malaysia took up batik painting. She was also an avid photographer, taking photos to enter in photography contests as well as taking many photos of her children and grandchildren. Bev also had a love for animals, having many beloved pets as a child and an adult, and she enjoyed bird watching and gardening. She was always active in her local community and church, and enjoyed singing in choral groups. She was a member of St John Lutheran Church in Aurora.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 62 years, David Huxsoll; a daughter, Leslie (Tom) Pakulski of Erie, PA; son, David (Julie) Huxsoll of Fairfax, VA; grandchildren, Tom, Danny and Joey Pakulski, and Caroline and Sam Huxsoll.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends will be received Saturday, September 4, 2021, 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the St. John Lutheran Church Aurora, 220 Mechanic St., Aurora, Indiana.

Services will be held at the church at 1:00 pm with Pastor Ronald Stephens officiating.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.
