Betty Jean (Ross) Jones, of Oolitic, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, I.U. Health Hospice House in Bloomington. She was born March 24, 1943, in Columbus, Indiana, to Gordon and Olive (Garrett) Ross. She married Richard Jones on July 12, 1963, in Hartsville, Indiana, and he survives. Betty worked at M.F. Fines-Shirt Factory in Bedford and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, canning, car shows, fishing and raising all the neighborhood kids. She lived in Oolitic for 54 years. Surviving to cherish Betty’s memory is her husband, Richard; two daughters, Jennifer Ann (Jack) Brock of Silverville and Melissa Evon (Keenan) Bolton of Mitchell; two sons, David Alan Jones of Mitchell and Jeffrey Lynn (Jodee) Jones of Salem; one sister, Judy Eldridge of Spencer; two brothers, Ronnie (Kathy) Ross of Westport and Tom (Ann) Ross of Westport; seven grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. Preceding Betty in death was her parents; one daughter, Betty Jean Jones; and one son, Terry Jones. A visitation service for Betty will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 4:00pm – 8:00pm, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at 10:00am, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home, 402 East Bennett Street, Westport, Indiana.
