(Batesville, IN) – Mike Bettice presided over his final Batesville City Council meeting this week as Mayor.

After presenting outgoing District 2 Councilman Tracy Rohlfing with a plaque thanking him for his years of service, the tables were turned on Bettice when Mayor-elect John Irrgang, presented a plaque to his predecessor.

“That was very nice. I very much appreciated it. I tell people all the time I love the job and I will greatly miss it, Bettice said on Wednesday’s edition of WRBI’s The Daily Pod.

Bettice was first elected Mayor in 2015 and won a second term four years later. He chose not to run for re-election this year.

“I’ll still be here, and hopefully I’ll be to pick up and do some things here in the future and be a part of things,” he added.

The outgoing Mayor thanked a number of people toward the end of Monday night’s meeting.
