BATESVILLE, IN — The Batesville Police Department is mourning the passing of K9 Officer Jinx.

The Dutch-German Shepherd who was born in the Netherlands died from health complications last Saturday.

Jinx was a year and a half old when she came to BPD in 2012 from Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Indiana.

The four-legged partner of Lt. Danny Hamilton was involved in a number of narcotics-related arrests during her time on the force.

In addition to her police work, Jinx displayed a community-oriented and fun side, according to a social media post.

“Jinx also loved visiting students at Batesville Schools as part of her job duties,” the statement reads. “To her, it was never a job, but something she loved to do. She enjoyed playing with them at recess when they had earned enough Bulldog Bucks for good behavior and racing them to see who could get the ball first.

“She also enjoyed running with kids at Liberty Park or just letting them pet her. She loved to be around kids! Jinx lived a very happy, healthy, and active life. She will be dearly missed by Lt. Danny Hamilton, his family, and her BPD family.”
