The Batesville girls played games on Saturday and Sunday and advanced to the championship game against Morton Premier Soccer Club from Illinois on Sunday afternoon.
Morton Premier had not given up a goal all weekend and would be a tough challenge. The Batesville girls attacked aggressively right from the start, with two goals from Addison Luers, and another from Emma Miller. Unfortunately, the team also surrendered three goals, and the game ended in a tie, with the championship title being decided by a penalty kick shootout, which Morton won 6 to 5.
While second place was not the ultimate goal for the weekend, the team played hard against great competition and will be ready to attack again in two weeks at the Crown Challenge in Cincinnati.
