Batesville wins two of three at Whiteland Tennis Invite

It was a solid day at the Whiteland Boys Tennis Invitational for Batesville.  The Bulldogs went 2-1.

According to BHS coach Mitchell Taylor, the Bulldogs dropped their first match of the day to Whiteland 4-1. Alec Bunselmeier and Sam Johnson at 2 doubles earned the lone point for Batesville with a 6-4, 6-3 win. Cael Rahe at 1 singles lost a hard fought match 4-6, 3-6.

Batesville found a way to win a tough 3-2 match against Jennings County.  Jaden Smith at 2 singles and Lyle Oesterling at 3 singles earned the first two points for the Bulldogs. Meanwhile Rahe (1 singles) and Cole Pride/Jackson Tracy (1 doubles) lost hard fought matches in two sets. Johnson/Bunselmeier at 2 doubles came up big to gain the winning point for the Bulldogs. After winning a close first set, they dropped the first three games of the second set but ultimately came back to win the second set 6-4.

In the final match, the Bulldogs beat Shelbyville 4-1. Some players were playing at new positions to give rest. Pride (2 singles) and Tracy (3 singles) both earned points for the Bulldogs. Rahe/Smith teamed up at 1 doubles to win 6-1, 6-2. Meanwhile, Johnson/Bunselmeier won at 2 doubles finishing 3-0 individually on the day. Oesterling played at 1 singles for his 3rd singles match of the day. He fought hard but ultimately came up short 3-6, 0-6.
