Batesville sweeps North Decatur in middle school volleyball

The Batesville Middle School 7th grade volleyball team took time to warm up, but got a win against North Decatur 24-25, 25-20, 15-4.

Carly Blanton and Breauna Broshears each had 2 kills. Miki Gutzwiller and Riley Balser each had a kill. From the service line, Maci Smith earned 9 points. Breauna Broshears had 8 points, Carly Blanton had 7 points, and Izzy Dierckman chipped in 4 points. Kiersten Luers, Riley Balser and Miki Gutzwiller each had 2 service points. While Alexis Schiller added 1 point. The team is now 4-2.

The BMS 8th Grade Volleyball Team defeated a scrappy North Decatur team by the scores of 25-22; and 25-17.

Katie Wilhelm led the team with 7 service points including 4 aces. Molly Gesell scored 4 points with an ace, while Jersey Trenkamp and Madi Dierckman each chipped in 4 points earning 3 and 2 aces respectively. Isabel Meyer also added 4 service points in the win.

The front-line attack was consistent vs. the Lady Chargers. Wilhelm earned 5 kills on well-placed shots, while Trenkamp and Leah Meyer each knocked in 3 kills at the net. Gesell, Maggie Jelinek, and Abby Miller each had 2 kills, while Raegan Hixson, Ellie Walke, and Maggie Peters contributed 1 kill apiece. The win improves the team’s record to 5-1 this season.

The teams will travel to Milan on Thursday.
