Batesville took two from Milan in Middle School Volleyball at a packed and raucous Dog Pound Thursday night.
The BMS 7th grade team dominated the Indians, 25-7, 25-2.
In game one Madi Dierckman served the first 20 points. She finished the game with 25 service points including 10 aces. Other top servers were Jolene Dirkhising with 6 points, 2 aces; Katie Wilhem with 5 points, 2 aces; Ellie Walke with 3 points, 2 aces, and Leah Meyer and Jersey Trenkamp had 1 point each.
In the front row, Molly Gesell had 4 kills, while Jolene Kirkhising, Katie Wilhelm, and Leah Meyer each had a kill.
Coach Angie Ehrman’s team improves to 5-2.
The Bulldog 8th graders improved to a 7-0 by defeating visiting Milan, 25-10, 25-13.
The lineup was shuffled due to some absences and an injury but BMS was still able to come up with an impressive win.
Caitlyn Fox got the team off to a fantastic start in each set scoring 19 points overall with 10 falling for aces. Leigh Hertel was 10 for 11 from the service line earning 8 points including 3 aces, while Maddie Haskamp chipped in with 6 points.
The Lady Dogs capitalized in the first set on overpassed balls with outstanding net play. Haskamp, Sydney Campbell, and Brooke Wilhelm led the front-line attack with some hard spikes and well-placed “dinks,” according to Coach Shelly Prickel.
Eliza Weiler and Hertel were the top defensive performers.
Coach Prickel says they had the largest student section of the year at the Dog Pound Thursday night.
