BATESVILLE, Ind. — A Batesville High School senior has been named a finalist in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Andy Allen, Batesville High School principal, announced that Joseph Matthew Barr is among 15,000 finalists for 2017 from across the country.
Barr becomes the 22nd Batesville High School student to reach this status and will attempt to become the third to be named National Merit winner.
He will continue in the competition for some 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered this spring.
