Batesville Skatepark rolls closer toward becoming reality

Batesville, IN — Groundbreaking for the Batesville Skatepark is expected to take place next month after the city’s Board of Works on Monday night approved a base bid and Alternate 1 bid for construction of the long-awaited facility.

Bloomington-based Hunger Skateparks submitted the lone bid for the project, which was $347,500 for the base bid and $115,000 for Alternate 1.

As a result, work is expected to begin next month on the 11,000-square-foot skatepark, which will be located in The Plex at the corner of Pohlman Avenue and Delaware Road.

The skatepark also received a financial shot in the arm Monday night when City Council approved an additional appropriation of $200,000 in American Rescue Plan Act Funds. Most of that appropriation – $175,000 – went toward funding the skatepark.
