(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville Skatepark Advocacy Group says the Pump Track at the facility is now open.

The organization plans to host a formal ribbon cutting and grand opening in the spring of 2024, but the Pump Track at the corner of Pohlman Avenue and Delaware Road is in use by riders or “pumpers” who generate momentum by up and down movements instead of pushing or pedaling.

The Pump Track is the second of three stages of the Batesville Skatepark and Outdoor Adventure Park development, with plans to install a bouldering wall in the spring.

The project started in 2021 with the planning of the facility and the group hopes to have all three phases complete early next year.

Dr. Amy Carpenter is the driving force behind the construction of the facility.

“Numerous community members have contributed expertise, time, and money to make this project a reality and to bring this state-of-the-art adventure park to our small town,” Dr. Carpenter said. “The skatepark and pump track have been a tremendous success already. Come out with friends and enjoy some creative outdoor play in Southern Indiana!”
