(Batesville, IN) – National Day of Prayer was observed across the country Thursday.

Locally, the 19th Annual Batesville Community Prayer Breakfast was held at the Knights of St John.

After Batesville Kiwanis President Ed Krause welcomed attendees and Mayor Mike Bettice delivered remarks, Pastor Terry Allen with Church on Fire delivered the message.

Krause noted the significance of the event.

“So much of what we see on the news is divisive rather than things that bring people together, and that’s what this event is,” Krause said. “Several different churches and organizations were here today but we come together for a common purpose.”

Entertainment was provided by the Batesville Singers.

The prayer breakfast is sponsored by the City of Batesville, the Batesville Kiwanis, Lions, and Rotary clubs, and the Southeastern Indiana YMCA.

This year’s National Day of Prayer theme was from James 5:16 ‘ “Pray fervently in righteousness and avail much.”
