(Ripley County, IN) – The Batesville and Milan high school varsity football teams joined forces again during the 2023 season to help raise funds for food insecure students in Ripley County through Turnover Hunger.

A total of $32,825 was raised this year through the initiative, which is supported by the Ripley County Community Foundation and accepts pledges or donations for every turnover the Bulldogs and Indians force.

This season, the two teams forced a combined 53 turnovers for the Weekend BackSack Program, which sends a backpack full of food home with elementary school students who otherwise would go hungry over the weekend.

$5,000 was distributed to each Ripley County elementary school on Tuesday, which will provide meals to more than 250 students this semester at Batesville Primary, Jac-Cen-Del, Milan, South Ripley and Sunman.
