The Batesville Middle School Football teams hosted the Franklin County Wildcats in rare Wednesday Night Action. Both the 7th and 8th grade teams gutted out wins in gritty performances. The 7th Grade Bulldogs shut out the Wildcats winning 8-0. The decisive score came in the second quarter following a long catch and run by Beckham Jones on a toss from Kam Anderson. Deacon Fledderman punched in the touchdown running behind the powerful Bulldog offensive line. Lane Higham scored the subsequent two-point conversion. The Bulldogs were stout defensively thanks in part to strong efforts in the trenches by Collin Vogelsang, Huston Cook, Bronson Winstead, Benson Harrison, and Edwin Hernandez. Wyatt Steinkamp shifted momentum in the game with an interception deep in the Bulldog’s own territory setting up the Bulldog’s lone score.
The 8th-grade Bulldogs won a hard-fought comeback win over the Wildcats 16-12. Scoring on the night came from Jackson Elston on a long 40-yard touchdown toss from Jake Schornick. Jeff Gerstsbauer scored what turned out to be the decisive touchdown early in the 4th quarter on a long run running behind Camden Kaiser, Ryan Ollier, and Logan Baker. Two-point conversions following the scores were punched in by Jeff Gerstbauer and Jack Schornick on the Ground. The Bulldogs were led defensively by Ajon Herbert, Winston Garrett, and Henry Spreckleson. The Bulldogs forced a total of 6 turnovers on the night with Liam Wagner and Jackson Elston intercepting Wildcat Passes in the Endzone and Fumble Recoveries by Brody Mauk, Ajon Herbert, and Camden Kaiser.
The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday when they travel to South Dearborn.
