The BMS cross country season kicked off Monday night with a three-way meet against St. Mary’s Greensburg and Columbus Christian.
Girls results – The ladies stepped to the line first and were led by Ava and Elia Wade. Ava placed first overall with Elia following in second place. Other members of the varsity team included Bailey Feldman who placed 5th, followed by Sydney Britton in 7th, Ana Shane in 8th, Emmalynn Allgeier in 9th, and Audrey Dieckmann in 10th. The Lady Dogs scored only 23 points to take home the win while St. Mary’s scored 40 for second place and Columbus Christian had 59 points in 3rd.
Boys results – In the boys race, Cael Luhman led the race and came home with a first place individual finish. Behind Cael was Timothy Quillin in 4th place, Wyatt Essick in 5th, Coleman West in 8th, Miles Lawrence in 10th, Lucas Gadberry in 11th, and Luke Raver in 12th to round out the 7 varsity runners for Batesville. Despite their best efforts, the dogs lost a close battle with St. Mary’s, coming in 2nd place with 28 points while the Knights had 27 points. Columbus Christian was third with 93.
