Batesville JV baseball wins despite late comeback attempt by Centerville

Batesville junior varsity baseball got out to a six-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 7-5 victory over Centerville on Saturday. Centerville put up four runs in the failed comeback. Ethan Vecera, Conner Frazier, and Maddox Pritchett powered the rally with RBIs.

In the first inning, the Batesville JV got their offense started. Conner Drake singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

Batesville would follow it up with three runs in the fourth inning. They were led by Ethan Lacey and Carson Schneider, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Jaiden Kuria was on the hill for Batesville. The right-hander surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Pritchett was on the pitcher’s mound for Centerville Bulldog JV. The righty went five innings, allowing seven runs on 12 hits, striking out one and walking one. Jayden Sticco threw two innings out of the bullpen.

Batesville had one home run on the day, with Alex Krekeler hitting a four-bagger in the third inning.

Batesville tallied 14 hits on the day. Josh Borgman, Drake, Krekeler, Keegan Walke, and Schneider each collected multiple hits for the team.
