The BHS girl’s JV team dominated the first half of gameplay against Connersville Tuesday night (8-22-2023) after scoring seven of their eight total goals, with three of those goals coming off of a goal kick. Scorers included F. Addie Redding with two (unassisted, assisted by F. Nora Weideman), F. Paige Allgeier (assisted by Soph. Maddie Prewitt), Soph. Karsyn Watson with two (both unassisted), Soph. Katie Lipps (unassisted), and F. Lilly Mehlon (assisted by Soph. Maddie Prewitt).
Early in the second half, the JV team completed their goal-scoring with Jr. McKenzie Maple, assisted by Katie Lipps. The team had 24 shots on goal throughout the game.
Sophomore Grace Coffey displayed great control and support as a defensive midfielder, and combined with the efforts of multiple defenders, kept Goalie Sarah Bedel to only three saves in the game.
The varsity team controlled their match as well with great possession and passing. Midfielder Sydney Slavin was instrumental in making connections. Senior Elena Kuisel netted two goals including one directly from a corner kick. She then assisted Addie Redding for a goal from a distance. Defenders Izzy Hornberger and Jada Day continually made productive runs from the back to keep the ball in the opponent’s half. The final score was Batesville 4 and Connersville 0, with an own goal added. This brings the team’s record to 4-0. The next conference matchup is against South Dearborn on 8/29.
