Batesville Girls Soccer

Despite having a shortened game due to storm delays, the JV girls soccer team had a strong start to their season with a 1-0 win over Seymour on August 12th. Early in the game, junior keeper Sarah Bedel experienced her first penalty kick after a tripping call in the box. Seymour’s shot went wide, keeping the score 0-0. Batesville then took an early lead with a goal by junior McKenzie Maple on an assist by freshman Addie Redding and continued to show promise with six additional shots on goal. Maddie Prewitt also provided many opportunities with seven corner kicks throughout the match. The defense strongly contributed to the win, limiting Bedel to two saves during the match.

The varsity team also had a 1-0 win for their season opener. The girls had a good showing with great defensive efforts by Angela Diaz and some key saves by Renee’ Lecher. Karli Lindblom scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs off of a cross from Elena Kuisel. Several freshmen experienced their first varsity minutes including Maddie Prewitt, Addie Redding, Sydney Campbell, and Nora Weideman.
