Batesville girls set two school records at EIAC Track Meet

On Tuesday, Batesville hosted the Eastern Interscholastic Athletic Conference (EIAC). By the end of the evening, 6 different conference records were broken.

The Batesville 4X400 meter team (pictured above) broke the school record at the EIAC meet by running a time of 4:10.43, breaking the previous record by .23 seconds. (Provided Photo).

Greensburg’s Emarie Jackson broke her record in the discus throwing a 135′ (previous record 128’6″). She also broke her own record in the shot put with a 46’07” (previous record 43’0.75″) 46-07.

East Central’s 4x 400m relay team broke the conference record by just over 2 seconds to 4:02.23 (previous record4:04.243). East Central crushed the old 4 x 800m relay record of 9:44.36, held back in 2009, with the Trojans running an incredible time of 9:28.30.

Also, Connersville’s Ahniya Bennet broke the 100m dash (12.32) and the 200m dash (25.72) records, both formerly held by East Central’s Eva Grimm.

Batesville crowned 5 individuals as Conference Champions and broke 2 school records. The East Central Lady Trojans took home the championship by over 40 points, scoring 166.83 to Batesville’s 126.5 points, Lawrenceburg took 3rd with 88.33, Connersville 4th with 63.7, Greensburg 5th with 60, Franklin County 6th with 57, Rushville 7th with 41.83, and South Dearborn 8th with 20.

East Central was also the overall winner on the boys side, with 148 points to Connersville 122, Greensburg took 3rd at 71.5 points, South Dearborn 4th with 69.5, Rushville 5th with 68, Batesville 6th with 60 points, Franklin County 7th with 44.5, and Lawrenceburg with 40.5.

For Batesville, they opened up the night on the oval with the girls 4x 800m relay team running and crushing the school record set 2 years ago (9:45.68) as they ran a personal best of 9:38.83. The record breaking team consisted of Megan Allgeier, Kaylie Raver, Kaylynn Bedel and Ava Hanson.

The 4x400m relay team of Allison Luers, Kamryn Dozier, Kaylie Raver and Ava Hanson broke the old school record set in 2014 by posting a 4:10.43.

The Varsity now has a week to prepare for the Sectional. The Girls will compete next Tuesday and the boys will next Thursday. Both will be held at East Central.
