Batesville Freshman Basketball Fall in Heartbreaker

Hope, IN – The Batesville boys freshman basketball team travelled up to Hauser on Tuesday, eyeing a matchup with the Jets.

The Bulldogs started off the game how they wanted to, jumping out to a 13-9 lead after the first quarter. Despite only scoring 3 points in the second quarter, their defense did just enough to keep this game tied at 16 going into the half.

The third quarter was just as closely contested as the two previous ones, and a little more offensive showed up this quarter as well. Batesville scored 11 in the quarter still hanging by a thread with a 1 point lead headed into the fourth quarter.

Despite leading most of the game, and going back and forth in the other moments, the Bulldogs lost a 5 point lead with only a minute left on the clock. They lost the lead with only 10 seconds left on the clock and couldn’t convert on the final possession. Final score from Hauser High School, 39-38, Jets.

Batesville was led by Eli Denni with 12, and Jackson Peetz with 11.

The next game up on the schedule for the Bulldogs is East Central at home tomorrow. Tipoff is scheduled for 6PM.
