(Batesville, IN) – It was the end of an era Monday, when the Batesville Dairy Queen served its last Blizzards, burgers and Dilly Bars.
Owner David Hermesch has worked there since he was 16 and has owned the store for more than 30 years.
He says the Batesville location is being closed by the DQ corporation, and that he plans to speak with the landlord about the possibility of opening another restaurant at the site.
“I’m sad, sick to my stomach. I feel like I let everybody down,” Hermesch said.
He reflected on what it meant to serve the Batesville area and all of Southeastern Indiana.
“I love it. There’s been ups and downs…all kinds of stuff but it’s been fun for the most part,” Hermesch said.
He’s thanking everyone who has worked at Batesville DQ over the years, along with his many loyal customers.
