Batesville Boys and Girls Varsity Track Place Second in Conference Meet

The Batesville Track and Field team traveled to South Dearborn last night to compete in the 8 team Conference meet. After enduring some wind and drizzle, then a 30 minute storm delay, the Bulldogs turned in some great performances. With almost 30 personal best performances, 2 school records broken and 8 individuals crowned Conference Champions, just wasn’t quite good enough to beat a very strong East Central Trojan team.  Both the boys and the girls finished Runner up for the night.  On the girls side, East Central took the trophy home with 158 points to Batesville’s 138. Franklin Community was third with a solid 91 points.  On the boys side, the top 3 team results were East Central with a solid team performance with 145 points to Batesville’s 110 and Lawrenceburg was third with 86. (Full results can be found at stuartroadracing.com) As mentioned above, some pretty exciting things happened as two school records dropped.  First the boys 4 x 800m relay, along they broke the meet record, South Dearborn, just  beat them by less than a second, 8:09.71 to 8:10.41.  This time did however break the school record by just over 2 seconds, set just 3 years ago in 2021 of 8:12.47.  The record breaking team was run last night by Deev Ranka, Griffin Koester, Jake Chapman and Cannon Clark. Congratulations boys!  Then, just before the rain delay, freshman Ella King, broke the shot put record from 1981 (set by Donna Lamping Hoeing) with her throw of 38’7.5″, 2 inches further than the record. This throw also gave her runner up in the shot put.  Congratulations Ella!
