Barbara J. Simmons, 68, succumbed to brain cancer and passed on 23 December 2023 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville, surrounded by family. Barbara was born on 26 November 1955 in Vincennes, Indiana, to R. Henry and Joyce (Blagrave) Simmons.
Barbara graduated from Lincoln High School in Vincennes, Indiana. She had a Paralegal Associates degree from Vincennes University, a Bachelors Degree in Business from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, and graduated from Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis. She maintained a law practice in Oldenburg, then Batesville.
Barbara was a caring, compassionate person who extended her kindness and willingness to help those in need. She always had a soft spot for animals and had many pets throughout her life. She loved music, attending concerts, gardening, attending classes at the Oldenburg Franciscan Center, and spending time with friends and family.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Tracy Diaz of Batesville; sisters Sandra (John) Wick of Carmel, Indiana, and Debra (Kenneth) Stephens of Nineveh, Indiana; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Richard and Craig Simmons, sister Susan Simmons, two nieces, and many pets.
Barbara requested to be cremated without visitation or funeral service.
