Aurora council candidate charged in school confrontation

Aurora, In. — An Aurora city council candidate is in jail following a dispute with the superintendent of the South Dearborn Community School Corporation.

A report from Dearborn/Ohio County prosecutor Lynn Deddens says at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday Richard Orcutt, 52, hit Eric Lows repeatedly on the head with a cell phone at the administration building. Orcutt’s wife is a school bus driver, the dispute was allegedly job-related. Assistant superintendent Chris Tanner helped subdue Orcutt and remove him from the building.

Orcutt was arrested later on U.S. 50 by Aurora police, he has been charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury. Lows received six stitches.
