Area farms honored at the state fair

Indianapolis, In. — Several local family farms will be recognized at the Indiana State Fair this year.

In Decatur County the Porter, Foster-Mahan and Mang will receive the Centennial Award. The Hamilton farms on the Decatur/Jennings County libe will also receive the Centennial Award.

The Centennial Award will be given to the Stim and Hofer-Wendel farms in Franklin County.

In Ripley County the Richter farm will receive the Centennial Award and the Tielking/Sellers Homestead will receive the Sesquicentennial Award.

In Switzerland County the Althoff farm will recognized with the Centennial Award.

“Our state’s legacy has been shaped by our farming families, who continue to pass down their traditions and values from one generation to the next,” said Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch, who also serves as Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development. “I would like to congratulate each and every family on receiving this prestigious award.”
