Area counties unemployment rates go up in October

Southeastern IN — The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says unemployment was up in all four area counties in October.

Ripley County had the area’s highest jobless rate last month at 2.9 percent.

That’s up from 2.2 percent in September but just below the state’s October average of 3 percent.

Decatur and Franklin counties both jumped in October to 2.4 percent and tied for the lowest jobless rate in Southeastern Indiana.

Both were also at 1.8 percent the month before.

Dearborn County was at 2.5 percent, which was an increase from 1.9 percent in September.
