Antoine “Tony” George Harris

Antoine “Tony” George Harris was born November 2, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late James A. Harris and Therese (Mazuel) Harris. He served his country proudly for 10 years total, dedicating four years to the Air Force and six years to the Army. In this time Tony earned multiple medals including a National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, and an Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Tony was honorably discharged from the military and then he worked a few different jobs over the years, with the most recent being an employee of Wal-Mart. Tony has been a resident of the Waters of Rising Sun since 2018, where his care providers became family. All the staff agrees Tony was one of a kind. Many described him as a wonderful down to earth man who loved life and would do anything for anybody. Tony had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to say kind words to ones he could tell were having a rough day or would crack a joke to keep you laughing on the good days. All the staff at the Waters of Rising Sun was honored to be a part of his journey where he will be truly missed by all. Tony is survived by his nephews, Robert Skidmore, Johnny Harris, and Jimmy Harris. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, by his brother James Harris, and by his sister Marjorie Skidmore.  Visitation for Tony will be on February 28, 2024, from 5-7 PM at the Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Graveside services with military honors will be on February 29th at 10 AM at Cedar Hedge Cemetery in Rising Sun, IN. marklandfuneralhome.com
