Another Pole to Checkered Flag finish for the Indy GP

2024 Grand Prix of Indianapolis Race Winner, Alex Palou.

(Speedway, IN) —Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing started and finished in P1 for today’s Grand Prix at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This is the 6th race and 3rd driver to win the Indianapolis Road Course Race from the Pole position. Palou joins drivers Will Power (2015, 2017, and 2018) and Simon Pagenaud (2016) to claim that honor. Joining Palou on the podium today were Penske’s Will Power and Christian Lundgaard of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.

The race had one caution, caused when Dale Coyne Racing Rookie Luca Ghiotto got loose, had a minor spin, and ultimately stalled out. Of the twenty-seven entries, only one car failed to finish. Unfortunately for the A.J. Foyt Enterprises #14 entry, driven by Santino Ferrucci, mechanical issues were diagnosed in the pit lane, and the car was pulled from the race after only completing twenty-nine of the eighty-five laps.

With this win, Palou moves ahead of Power in the Indycar Championship standings. Indianapolis Motor Speedway now starts the two-day process of reconfiguring itself for The Greatest Spectacle in Racing. Practice for The Indianapolis 500 will begin on Tuesday.  WRBI 103.9 FM is your place for THE race on Sunday, May 26th.
