Announcements made at Decatur County Commissioners meeting

(Greensburg, IN) – There were some announcements made at this week’s Decatur County Commissioners meeting.

The current Decatur County Highway Department building and property on Base Road will go on the auction block on December 16.

The department is in the process of moving into newly-constructed headquarters near the fairgrounds.

An open house at the new facility is scheduled for December 20 from 10am to 2pm.

Meanwhile, Commissioners approved the 2024 meeting and holiday schedules.

The first meeting of each month will be held at night, while the second session will take place in the morning.

Commissioners held four night meetings this year in March, June, September, and December to gauge public participation and demand after years of 8am Monday start times.

Jeremy Pasel touted the idea of night meetings during his successful 2022 campaign for District 2 Commissioner, saying a number of residents work during the day and cannot take off to attend a Commissioners’ morning meeting.
