Anna Marie Clemenz

Anna Marie (Gutapfel) Clemenz, age 92, formerly of Sunman, IN and Greensburg, IN passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Columbus, IN.  Ann was born on December 20, 1925 in Dearborn County, IN.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Greensburg, and a member of the Shrine Guild in Greensburg.
Ann was a country girl who was always the ‘boss’ of her two sisters and three brothers while growing up. Ann was very stubborn and she worked hard to tackle every obstacle that came her way.  She enjoyed nearly 35 years of working at the business that she owned with her sister, Esther Bausback – – Twin Oaks Grocery. She served in and worked for the Shriners Guild for many years.  Ann liked to bowl on a Friday night mixed league and volunteer at the Decatur County Hospital, but she disliked housework and cooking in any form!  One of her pleasures was her thirteen nieces and nephews that she bossed around as if they were her own.  She taught them the value of working hard to get what you wanted in life. She disciplined them and made them ‘toe the line’ over the years and enjoyed spending time with them as they grew up and started their own families.
Ann married Harold Clemenz on October 13, 1984. He preceded her in death after 31 years of marriage. Ann was also preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh and Bertha (nee Hildebrand) Gutapfel, her brother, Alvin (Arlene) Gutapfel of Sunman, IN, and her sister, Esther (Gene) Bausback. She is survived by her sister, Ruth (Allen) Huber of Sunman, IN and her brothers, Raleigh Jr. (Pat) Gutapfel and Cletus (Patsy) Gutapfel, both of Sunman, IN. Ann leaves behind six nieces and seven nephews (and their spouses and children) who will carry her memory with them. Ann had two step-children: Jill (John) Barrow of Canyon Lake, TX and John Clemenz of Bellville, IL.
