Allen Wayne Aldred, M.D., age 88, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, formerly of Switzerland County, Indiana, passed away at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne, Indiana at 11:50 a.m., Sunday, March 26, 2017. He was born November 26, 1928 on a farm near Vevay, Indiana. He was?the only child of Alfred G. “Jack” and Margery (Allen) Aldred, both of whom preceded him in death. Allen was a 1946 graduate from Vevay High School. On September 1, 1951 at the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling, Indiana, Allen Wayne married his high school sweet heart, Eleanor Jean Wiley and they were blessed with four children, Stephen, Kathy, Marcia and Keith.?He entered Indiana University receiving his medical degree in 1953. Following an internship at Indianapolis General Hospital (now Wishard Hospital), Allen Wayne started a family practice in Rising Sun, Indiana. He was inducted into the United States Navy on October 17, 1954?during the Korean War. Allen entered the navy service as a physician on a troop ship, General A.E. Anderson (Tap III). This tour of duty was between San Francisco, Japan and Korea. In November 1955, he was transferred to the former Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California and?was honorably discharged on October 17, 1956. Following his navy tour of duty, he joined Whitlatch Clinic and Hospital in Milan, Indiana. After 6 years of family practice he returned to Indiana University Medical Center for a 4-year residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. In 1966, he joined Dr. Walter Griest and Dr. Charles Aust at Lutheran Hospital in Fort?Wayne. Allen was a member of College of American Pathologists, AMA, Fort?Wayne, Medical Society, American Society of Clinical Pathologist and was President of the Lutheran Hospital Medical Staff 1974-1975. He was also a member of The Chapel in Fort Wayne and former member of the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling, Indiana. He was a member of the Switzerland Lodge No. 122 F.&A.M. Allen Wayne was a loving and supportive husband, father, grandfather and friend who had a great passion for life. As the patriarch of his family, he could be counted on to offer his support in the good times and the bad. His loyalty to family members and friends alike was steadfast and fierce. In retirement, Allen Wayne’s passion for history led to a vast collection of Civil War books, most of which will be donated to the Allen County Public Library in downtown Fort Wayne. He enjoyed traveling to many places, but a few of his favorite destinations included touring the battlefields of Gettysburg, visiting family in Texas, and spending the winter months in St. Pete Beach, Florida. Al?and Eleanor shared 72 years together as sweethearts. Al will be dearly missed by his loving family and his community.
Allen Wayne will be dearly missed by loving wife of 65 years, Eleanor Jean (Wiley) Aldred of Fort Wayne, IN; his daughters, Kathy (Ron) Lee of Carrollton, TX and Marcia (Kevin) Cismowski of Fort Wayne, IN; his son, Dr. Keith (Jody) Aldred of Plano, TX; his daughter-in-law, Donna Aldred of Fischer, TX; his grandchildren, Shawn Cismowski of St. Petersburg, FL, Dr. Booth (Kristin) Aldred of Salt Lake City, UT, Melanie (Douglas) McGregor of Angola, IN, Leslie (Darrel) Lambert of Austin, TX, Lauren (Dan) Rosselli of Plano, TX, Kassie (Eddie) Newton, Collierville, TN, Austin Aldred of Plano, TX and Haleigh (Wil) Manhkong of Rowlett, TX; his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Dimitri, Vivienne, Piper, Liam, Finn, Penny and Raelynn; his cousins, Marilyn Owen of Vevay, IN, Charlie Haskell of Fairview, IN, Junior Lester of Lawrenceburg, IN and his numerous Cole and Wiley families in Switzerland County, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred G. “Jack” Aldred, died May 30, 1983 and Margery (Allen) Aldred, died December 30, 1987 and his son, Dr. Stephen Aldred, died August 31, 2008.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2017, officiated by: Rev. Mike Sawalich in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana with full military rites conducted by the Honor Guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & Vevay VFW Post #5396.
