All four area counties see slight drop in unemployment

SOUTHEASTERN IN — All four area counties saw a drop in unemployment in September.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says Franklin County had the lowest jobless rate among the four counties at 2.7 percent, which is down from 3.1 percent in August.

Ripley and Decatur counties both checked in at 2.8 percent, and Dearborn County was at 3 percent last month.

Ripley County was at 3.1 percent in August; Decatur County checked in at 3 percent, and Dearborn County’s jobless rate was 3.4 percent the month before.

All four counties were below the state average of 3.5 percent for September.

The national average for September was 4.6 percent.
