All four area counties see jobless rate increases in May

SOUTHEASTERN IN — All four area counties saw an increase in their unemployment rates in May.

According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Decatur County had the lowest local jobless rate in May at 2.1 percent.

Decatur County’s unemployment rate is up from 1.8 percent the month before but is one-tenth of a percent below Franklin and Dearborn counties, and the statewide average – all of which stood at 2.2 percent in May.

Ripley County had the highest jobless rate in the area last month at 2.3 percent.
