Alice Louise Hughes, 85 of Westport

Alice Louise Hughes, 85, of Westport, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Willows of Greensburg. She was born on September 12, 1941, in Cynthiana, Kentucky, the daughter of Leo & Gertrude (Jones) Hatfield. She lived in Kentucky until the age of 5 then moved to Shelbyville, Indiana. She was in the last class to graduate from the old Shelbyville High School in 1959. She graduated from the Indiana Business College in 1959. Alice worked for 2 years at Western Electric and 25 years as an Educational Assistant at South Decatur Elementary School. She was a member of Rockcreek Baptist Church and also Encouraging Others at the Westport Christian Church. She enjoyed scrapbooking and flowers. She loved her grandkids dearly and supported them at all their sporting events. Alice married James M. Hughes on August 4, 1962, in Shelbyville, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Lori A. (Mitch) Nobbe of Westport, her son, Tim (Norma) Hughes of Greensburg; grandchildren, Noah (Kyra) Nobbe, Trent Nobbe and Alli Nobbe and step grandsons, Dr. Rodolfo Ocejo & Gustavo Gutierrez Ocejo. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; son, Denny Hughes; sister, Janet Stanton. The family will celebrate her privately on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Terry Canfield officiating. Burial will follow at Union Flatrock Cemetery. Please keep the family in your prayers.
