Albert Ivan Chipman

Albert Ivan Chipman, 86, of Aurora, IN, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

He was born January 5, 1938, in Milton, IN, son of the late Curtis Chipman and Geneva (Walker) Chipman.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army, and was a Korean War Veteran, a member of the National Guard, and a member of the Air Force Reserves.

Ivan worked as a Mechanic and in the Maintenance Dept. for Aurora Casket Company, retiring after over 21 years of service. Ivan was very patriotic and served on the local Honor Guard for many years, and he served as the Commander for 1 year.

He was a member of Aurora Presbyterian Church, and served for over 21 years as a volunteer fire fighter. He had a good sense of humor and was always up for a good joke. Ivan was a part of the morning coffee group at Aurora Diner. He was a dog lover and lost his faithful little dog Cocoa this fall. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all.

Ivan is survived by his daughters, Betty Ann (Kevin) Schwab of Sunman, IN, Sandra Sue (Mark) Verdon of Guilford, IN, Karen Marie (Rodney) Steiner of Moores Hill, IN; sister, Janice Marie Chipman of Aurora, IN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Geneva Chipman; spouse of 55 years, Betty Lou (Green) Chipman; siblings, Sharon Ann Moses, Melvin Chipman, Barbara Jean Chipman, Norman Chipman and Curtis Chipman Jr.

Friends will be received Sunday, January 14, 2024, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic St., Aurora, IN. Masonic services will be held at 6:30 pm.

Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 15th with Pastor David Hall officiating.

Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, IN. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard.
