Albert F. Meyer, age 53 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away Friday, June 28, 2024, at IU Health in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born August 6, 1970, in Batesville, he is the son of Francis and Rita (Nee: Werner) Meyer. He married Sandra Luers on May 5, 1998, in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Albert was a mechanic at Bedel’s Marathon in Batesville for 31 years.
Albert was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed walking in the woods and skipping stones at the creek. He loved having Sunday breakfast with his family, followed by playing Rummy 500. Albert spent many nights immersed in long conversations with his son, talking about anything from music to history. In his free time, he could be found cheering on the Bengals and the Reds. Having such a kind heart, warm smile and infectious laugh, everyone was an instant friend to Albert. He was always willing to help anyone in need. He was truly a fighter right until the end.
He is survived by his wife Sandy of Batesville; son Benjamin Meyer and daughter Emily Meyer, both of Batesville; parents Francis and Rita Meyer of Oldenburg, Indiana; sisters Heidi Murray of Harrison, Ohio and Jessica Meyer of Connersville, Indiana; brothers Chris (Jennifer) Meyer of Osgood, Indiana, Kevin (Christy) Meyer of Park Hills, Kentucky, Brad (Megan) Meyer of Hamburg, Indiana, and Jake (Christy) Meyer of Greensburg, Indiana.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 3rd, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m., at the church, with Fr. Carl Langenderfer, O.F.M. officiating. The burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help with medical expenses.
