Alan R. Menefee, 74, of Westport, passed away at 8:54 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at his residence. He was born on February 12, 1949, in Greensburg, the son of Chester and Selma (Wells) Menefee. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and he graduated from the Burney High School in 1967. He was a service repair man for Sears & Roebuck and retired in 2015 after 46 years of service. Alan was a member of the Westport Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, spending time with his family and was a member of the Indiana National Guard. He married Carol L. Stephens on November 21, 1971, in Burney. Carol survives along with his daughters, April (Vance) Gregory of Murfreesboro, TN and Kelly (Tony) Burton of Westport; his sister, Debbie (Kent) Holcomb of Terre Haute; his brother-in-law, Jim Bokelman of Greensburg; his grandchildren, Brittany (Jared) Shohfi of San Francisco, CA, Whitnye Burton and Luke Burton of Westport. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Pat Bokelman. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Westport Christian Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
