A sixth Southwestern Indiana farm tests positive for bird flu

DUBOIS/GREENE COUNTIES, IN — And now there are six.

Another case of avian influenza has been confirmed at a Southern Indiana commercial poultry farm.

The Indiana State Board of Animal Health says more than 16,000 turkeys had to be destroyed after the bird flu was discovered in the latest case at a Dubois County farm.

It’s the fourth case in Dubois County, while two farms in neighboring Greene County have also tested positive for the flu.

State regulators say more than 171,000 turkeys in Indiana have been destroyed as part of the effort to contain the flu.
