A busy Christmas weekend for Franklin County firefighters

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IN — Firefighters in Franklin County were kept busy over the Christmas weekend.

Flames destroyed a barn and farming equipment Sunday afternoon on the 17,000 block of Pumphouse Road near St. Marys.

The Brookville and Oldenburg fire departments were the first units called to the scene just before 2:30 pm.

Sunman and Metamora also responded with tankers.

There’s no word on what touched off the blaze.

No one was hurt.

Meantime, firefighters from New Trenton and Cedar Grove were called to a cabin fire on Lenmary Road just after 9:30 pm on Christmas night.

Both departments were dispatched back to the scene just after 2:40 am Sunday when two more structures on the property went up in flames.

As a result, Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies were called in to investigate.
